X1 is supposedly better than the Google Desktop Search.
I don't know yet - I can't get GDS to work on my home machine - it doesn't like my firewall :*(

In my continuing search for search tools, I'm still plugging Copernic Desktop Search. It's tough to justify $75 (USD) for X1 when CDS and now GDS is free.

Rick: Wait til you see what x1 has just released in public beta. Their new version 5.0 is the best search tool yet and well worth the investmnet if you have a ton of files and e-mail. Nothing wrong with Copernic - I think it's the best of the freeware but x1 is in another class entirely.
